Changing of the Guard

We have a change of guard taking place in the Bay of Plenty. After twenty years of loyal service to Nutritech, Stu Lister will retire at the end of January.

Over the years, Stu has given so much to his role, the customers and the BOP / South Waikato area. When asked what he has found the most rewarding over the years, Stu said, “Helping go-ahead young farmers progress in the industry. Stu has a massive appetite for learning, commenting that one of the things he has enjoyed has been “continuing to learn from the great information imparted by a string of knowledgeable people both within Nutritech and those outside of the business”. Not to be afraid of technology, Stu has been a big user of the Diet Check rationing programme. “Diet Check was a game changer for me,” he says.

He has loved his time working in the Bay of Plenty. “The area is so varied, I can be talking to a farmer about their maize silage, then to another farmer about balancing their in-shed feed blend, and then in between those visits get a phone call from someone about their horse being unrideable during the spring flush of pasture, no day at work is the same,” says Stu.

While Stu has loved his twenty years at Nutritech, he is also looking forward to taking a step back and spending more time with his partner, getting his hands dirty in the garden, travelling and doing some relief milking so he does not lose touch with the dairy industry. He will also be spending more time in his studio in front of his Pioneer mixer improving his DJing skills and producing his own music.

We thank Stu for his twenty years of service; we know many in the industry will miss his incredible enthusiasm for farming and animal nutrition.

We have been lucky enough to have recruited Liam Murphy to step into the big shoes of Stu. Liam has a long history in Agriculture in the BOP area. This includes four years dairy farming, working on the road for an animal health company, time working in the reseller space, and most recently running a tractor dealership.

With this experience Liam has built a passion for working with farmers. “I love seeing their results and successes, if that’s higher production, less lameness, better mating results, or however else I can support, having a small hand in helping is so satisfying” says Liam.

Liam is looking forward to getting his teeth into the role, starting in early January. Liam said “I can’t wait to grow my career in the animal nutrition industry with Nutritech, building on my expertise and growing relationships with farmers in the area”.

Outside of work Liam has a young family who he loves hanging out with at the beach or lake, he enjoys hiking and trekking and loves international rugby. “Sorry not the All Blacks it’s the boys in green for me,” said Liam.

We are fortunate to have a three-week handover between Stu and Liam so everyone will get one last chance to say goodbye to Stu before he finishes at the end of January. Please join Nutritech in saying thanks and best wishes to Stu and welcome aboard and good luck to Liam.
