One of the major advantages over other starter drenches on the market are the higher energy levels (16MJ/Litre) and superior flowability, owing to the high monopropylene glycol (MPG) dose (440 ml) which is a rapid glucose (energy) precursor for the cow. Other products have about half this level of MPG. JumpStart™ also has two forms of calcium (calcium propionate & calcium chloride) which provides the cow with both a rapid source of calcium and a slower ‘release’ calcium to bolster blood calcium.
Using Jumpstart™ reduces the incidence of clinical milk fever (downer cows) which, in turn, reduces the risk of other metabolic issues like retained placenta, udder oedema, displaced abomasum and ketosis. The high level of molasses and MPG in JumpStart™ provides a rapidly available source of energy to the cow over this period and reduces the risk of body condition loss.
