In more recent years, Nutritech has utilised diet feed formulation programs like Dietcheck® that combine many years of dairy nutrition research with the power of computing, allowing nutritionists to instantly match the nutrient demands of milk production with the available ingredients on offer to help cows reach their peak potential for milk production and animal health.
Our team of Ruminant Nutritionists, together with local Area Managers, gather information from the farm and use these inputs within Dietcheck® formulation software to balance the cow diets specific for the type of cows, farm conditions and available feed options.

The Dietcheck® customisation aspect has significantly expanded the Nutritech offering. The growth and demand for custom mineral mixes really highlights the value NZ farmers see in targeting nutrients specific to their herd’s requirements. This means they are getting more of the nutrients they need, while creating economic savings by not over-supplementing nutrients they don’t need. Also, by targeting specific areas of concern, for example hoof health, somatic cell count, and reproduction, the small ingredients can play a significant role in helping achieve critical health and performance goals.
Now with the Nutritech Mineral App, our Area Managers can quickly formulate and quote a custom mineral mix. This makes the process quick and easy for our customers. Not only can Nutritech tailor the mineral specification, but there are also several delivery mechanisms available too, including options for water, feed, and of course the original DanMix® loose lick which still remains popular today (don’t worry, the specifications have been updated from the original!). Nutritech has flexible manufacturing processes so once the quote is accepted, the custom formulation is sent to either our North or South Island factory for manufacturing and supply in 3-5 working days from order.
The future of mineral supplementation will likely continue down the customisation basis, perhaps we will even get to individual cow dosing based on genomic profiling, who knows.
