Are you someone who inoculates their silage sometimes, but not every time? Here are some key reasons why all silages benefit from a specific inoculant from the MAGNIVA® range.

All crops come in with ‘wild’ yeasts, moulds and bacteria. You could gamble on these ‘wild’ microbes, and hope that there are more ‘good’ ones’ than ‘harmful’ ones, however that is a huge risk to take. Why not apply 200,000 CFU1 fast, efficient and specifically chosen bacteria (per gram of fresh forage) that are going to do the job you need them to?

It costs the same to harvest and stack a poor silage as it does a quality silage – starting at well under one cent per kgDM, the cost of MAGNIVA® inoculant is a very small investment to make to protect that silage.

Regardless of whether it is high-yielding, lush leafy first-cut silage, or a more mature third-cut silage, each crop has a challenge that needs to be overcome for a quality silage outcome. Leafy silage has more water and protein, while a mature silage traps air in the stack – both are specific challenges that need a specific inoculant solution.

The challenge is always there, even if you don’t see it—and you can’t guess which crop or situation can benefit from an inoculant. Take the risk out of the equation by choosing to treat every time.

Inoculating with the MAGNIVA® range of inoculants gives you more silage to feed – valuable silage is lost in the process of turning fresh feed into preserved feed. It’s a matter of how much you lose. Work out of the University of Szged, Hungary for example showed 4.6% less silage losses when the silage was treated with MAGNIVA® Classic versus untreated – that’s 4.6tDM available to feed (on every 100tDM harvested) that you wouldn’t have without inoculating.
