Autumn Calving? Reduce Ketosis Risk & Lift Milk Solids

Nutritech has released two new technologies to support cows in early lactation.

Nexulin – Proven milk solid and ketosis results.

What is it?
A rumen-protected caspacin (derived from capsicum) which benefits energy metabolism through the transition and early lactation period.

How does it work?
Nexulin lowers the production of insulin within the cow. Lowering insulin allows more glucose to circulate in the blood to be available to the mammary gland to make milk and help cows manage negative energy balance and therefore reducing ketosis risk.

Proven Results from 3 published studies, including a New Zealand study:

  • 8.5% increase in milk solid production
  • Ketosis prevalence decreased from 10.2% to 1.7% (Nexulin v control).
  • Return on investment of over 20:1

How To Feed:

  • 5g/cow/day
  • Must be mixed with feed (in-shed or mixer wagon)
  • Feed from 21 days pre-calving through to 100 days post calving for best results.

LipoEN+ – Cost-Effective Energy for Colostrum Cows

What is it?
LipoEN+ is a powdered, rumen-protected glycerol supplement that delivers glucose directly to the intestine and bloodstream, giving cows a direct source of concentrated energy. LipoEN+ is highly effective for colostrum cows, herds with ketosis challenges or in adverse weather events.

How does it work?
LipoEN+ is a rapidly available energy precursor that helps support blood glucose levels and reduce excessive fat mobilisation. This lowers ketone formation and supports liver function while feed intake is still ramping up.

Key Benefits:

  • Easy to administer to groups of cows by mixing through feed and much less hassle than drenching liquid Monopropylene Glycol (MPG)
  • Around 1/5 of the price per dose compared to liquid MPG
  • 200g of LipoEN+ elevates blood glucose levels and reduces Beta-Hydroxybutyrate (BHB) levels compared with a single dose (300mL) of MPG
  • Reduces risk of sleepy sickness and ketosis in sheep
  • Improves milk yield (up to +2–3 L/day) in cows, delivering at least 3:1 return on investment
  • Reduces somatic cell count
  • Is a safe way to raise glucose supply with less risk of rumen dysfunction or acidosis (rumen bypass)

How to Feed:

  • 200g-400g/cow/day for colostrum cows.
  • 100-200g/cow/day for lactating cows.
  • Feed for 4-5 days post calving or longer as required
  • Mix with feed
  • Can be suspended in liquid and drenched if required.
